Description
A delicious and irresistible fig and honey tart that combines the sweetness of fresh figs with a buttery crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup fresh figs, sliced
- ½ cup honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon butter, for greasing the tart pan
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-inch tart pan with the tablespoon of butter.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, softened butter, sugar, egg, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Press the dough evenly into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared tart pan. Prick the bottom with a fork to prevent bubbling.
- In another bowl, combine the sliced figs, honey, vanilla extract, lemon juice, cornstarch, and cinnamon. Gently toss until the figs are well coated.
- Pour the fig mixture into the prepared crust, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the figs are bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of chopped nuts, such as walnuts or almonds, on top before baking.
- Alternatively, serve with a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for a delightful dessert.
