Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 cup fresh orange juice
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds, toasted
- 1/2 cup dried fruit mix (raisins, apricots, and figs)
- 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves (for garnish)
- Optional: 1 cup rum or brandy
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring the water to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and stir in the almond milk, orange juice, and pineapple juice.
- Add the sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg to the pot, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.
- Stir in the sliced almonds and dried fruit mix, allowing the mixture to simmer for about 10-15 minutes to meld the flavors.
- If desired, add the rum or brandy and heat through for an additional 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving.
- Ladle the ponche into cups and garnish with fresh mint leaves.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the rum or brandy and add more fruit juices for extra flavor.
- Experiment with different dried fruits or nuts based on your preference, such as adding coconut flakes or using walnuts instead of almonds.
